Banfield Properties, Inc. | BMI Management, Inc.

Banfield Properties, Inc. was formed as a sole proprietorship by James A. Banfield in 1963. It was formed for the purpose of managing and operating income producing properties owned personally by James A. Banfield and properties in joint venture by James A. Banfield and Ronald Hausman. Banfield Properties was incorporated in 1978 and has been operating continuously without interruption from 1963 to the present.

During the period from 1970 to 1978 President, James A. Banfield operated simultaneously Banfield Properties Inc. and was the General Manager and Vice-President of Helmsley-Spear of Texas, a subsidiary of Helmsley-Spear Inc. of New York City, one of the largest and most successful real estate firms in the country, headed by Harry B. Helmsley, a leading real estate investor and builder. During this period of time, James A. Banfield was responsible for the management of approximately 3000 apartment units, the largest of which was 850 units, plus numerous non-residential commercial properties owned personally by Harry Helmsley together with property held in joint venture by James A. Banfield and Ronald Hausman. James A. Banfield, at his own initiative left Helmsley-Spear of Texas in 1978 to devote full-time to the operations of Banfield Properties, Inc. and his personal investments.

BMI Management, Inc. was formed in 1992 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Banfield Properties, Inc. to manage all properties in the Banfield Properties portfolio, letting Banfield Properties Inc. devote full-time to new development activities. Presently BMI Management Inc. manages 1,229 apartment units in twelve different projects, primarily in the Houston metropolitan and central Texas areas. Banfield Properties Inc and BMI Management Inc employ a staff of sixty-five people for the supervision and administrative support for the management responsibilities.
